Feel Good About Work: how building your own rewards system buildsresilience

ou have been working in your career for a while. In the early days, the milestones and accolades just kept on coming quicker and quicker, whether that was celebrating your first month in your job, passing probation, successfully managing your first complaint, getting to a positive annual review, the qualification milestones, the extra-curriculars you took on to boost your profile, the jobs you put your hand up for.

They were heady days and there you were, perpetually buoyed by the warm glow of approval and achievement.

Then something happened.

You became ‘established’ in your career, and the accolades stopped, or at least slowed down. You got bogged down in difficult cases that seemed to go on forever and became entrenched in the long, slow slog of perpetually staying up to date but not really getting much further. Your boss saw you as solid and dependable and you were given more and more of the middle of the road work that came with challenges but not a whole amount of glory, and you struggled to speak up about the wins, having been so used to other people pointing them out to you.

In the meantime, those perfectionist and imposter syndrome voices, the ugly step-sisters of the career confidence world, got louder and louder. They filled every space, every gap, every awkward pause with ‘told you so’ commentary and ‘who did you think you were’ narrative.

The glory, the satisfaction, the approval and high of the wins seemed so far away and you didn’t know what to do to bring it back.

Maybe you switched employers, changed your job, looked to niche your specialism but it’s all felt messy and dissatisfying since, leaving you thinking that maybe, just maybe, you were never really meant to do this.

Here’s the thing. I can’t tell you for sure that you’re in the right job, no-one can, and I believe that absolutely everyone should explore their creativity and feel satisfied and fulfilled by their work and life. That doesn’t mean that we are always going to be in endless paroxysms of job, but I believe that everyone can feel happier at work, by doing one very important thing:

Building your own rewards system.

Join me on Tuesday 2nd June at 8.30pm for this one-hour workshop, where we will be covering:

  • How you have become conditioned to seek validation from others;

  • The neuroscience behind reward-behaviour (or, why you’re addicted to approval);

  • Why outward seeking behaviours limit your resilience and increase your risk of burnout;

  • Crafting your own job specification and rewards system;

  • Shifting focus from extrinsic validation to intrinsic worth;

  • My cut-out-and-keep process for keeping you resilient, focused and on-track

In addition to the live training, you will also receive a video replay of the training to watch again (or catch up) at your leisure, as well as a PDF workbook of my notes.

PLUS: sign up to attend this workshop and receive a full 7 days unlimited follow up support from me, to help you implement immediately and make the changes stick!
